There are tons of great and free (or nearly free) things to explore in the Oklahoma City Metro Area.
Below are my Top 3 ideas to explore the outdoors…

1. Martin Nature Center
If the weather is right, this is a great way to spend the day. Martin Nature Center offers beautiful walking trails and a nature break from the city. As the weather cools off, this will be a great activity. There are also covered areas at the entrance and benches along the trails that would be perfect for a picnic.
Right now the visitor center is closed, but the park still offered plenty for visitors on a pretty day.
It’s all Free! Enjoy nature in the middle of a city without spending a dime!!
Check out their website for events and

2 . Dolese Disc Golf Course & Park
Dolese Park offers a variety of activities including fishing, walking trails and a playground.
My favorite part of the park is their disc golf course. It offers a mix of wooded and open holes and is a beautiful way to spend an afternoon outside.
There is some set up cost to buy or rent discs, but you can get a set pretty cheap and have frugal fun for years.
Check out Dolese’s site below: https://www.okc.gov/departments/parks-recreation/disc-golf
If you are in the market for a beginner’s set of discs, my husband and I bought the set below to get started: https://www.amazon.com/Innova-Disc-Golf-3-Disc-Colors/dp/B000Q838XW/ref=sr_1_8/130-6562213-0374500?ie=UTF8&qid=1508706589&sr=8-8&keywords=disc+golf+starter+set

3. Explore the Bricktown Canal & Land Run Monument
The Bricktown Canal is a great place to walk around on a pretty day. But, one of the most interesting attractions that I’d overlooked is the Land Run Monuments on the South End of the Canal.
These statues are really something to see. There are 45 statues bronze statues in the monument. They are heroic size so the experience is really profound.
These statues were installed in 2015 and as a resident of OKC, I must say it really flew under my radar. This unique experience is walkable, unique and most importantly… Free!
